Sarah Secrist, who celebrated her 82nd birthday on March 1st, with family, friends and loving caregivers, put both feet into heaven on May 3rd, 2020 at her home in Kellyville. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1956. Her first job was with Phillips Petroleum in Utica Square where she worked for several years; later for Liberty Glass as a secretary in the Collins Building, and still later for Shell Oil, long enough to draw a pension for the rest of her life. Sarah Markley met the love of her life Matt in 1984 who persuaded her to change her last name to Secrist in 1986 after they eloped to Georgia. From that point on, she was a devoted homemaker and wife putting up with her husband as they followed construction jobs from coast to coast. In 1987, upon finally returning to Kellyville from New York, she hosted a 4th of July celebration which practically doubled as a wedding reception as it was attended by a goodly number of friends and family. For many years thereafter, Sarah managed to be home on the 4th to play hostess.
Sarah was a dog lover and did charity work for the Sapulpa Pet Aid and Animal Shelter. But above all, Sarah cherished her granddaughters and kept them on many overnight stays. Indeed she was affectionately known as "Granny" by three generations of nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her loving husband, Matt; her son Ray Markley; granddaughters Malinda and Kathryn Markley, and Hannah McNeelis and great grandson James McNeelis. Sister Jane Shouse and husband Johnny, and sister,Mary Henry.
Preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lucille Powell, son Jeff Markley and grandson Isaac Markley.
