Ronnie Joe Hillsberry, or “Hansome Ron” as he preferred to be called, passed away unexpectedly October 27, 2020 at the age of 72 at his residence in Mannford, Oklahoma.  He was born August 7, 1948 in Sand Springs to Thurman and Loyce (Miller) Hillsberry. Ron graduated from Charles Page High School in 1966.

When his brother, Jay, was drafted to serve in Vietnam, Ron volunteered to go in his place. He humbly served his country with the United States Army.

Just after returning from war, at the age of 20, he met and fell in love with his wife, Susan, instantly becoming a dedicated father to four young children. Ron and Susan married in 1971 and completed their family in 1973 when daughter, Rebecca, was born.

Ron, above anything else, was a family man. He taught so many around him how remarkable and unselfish it is to put those you love first. He was generous, almost to a fault, and supportive of his children and grandchildren in all aspects and cherished any time spent with them.  He loved life. Ron never met a stranger and his personality was dynamic! He enjoyed pickleball, golf, square dancing, boating, and watching OU football or old Westerns.  The legacy that Ron leaves in this world is one of love, joy and humility. It was a simple life: never complex and always with good and honest intentions.

Ron is survived by his wife, Susan Hillsberry of Mannford; his children, Donna Orban and husband, Billy of Sedona, Arizona, Dean Hillsberry and wife, Eileen of Mannford, Daniel Hillsberry and wife, Leslie of Palm City, Florida and Rebecca Mosley and husband, Michael of Tulsa; brother Jay Hillsberry and wife, Cheryl of Sand Springs; as well as 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In celebration of his amazing life, a memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, November 2, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa, with internment to follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Kellyville.  Funeral visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Smith Funeral Home.
