Reg L. Green 74, passed from this life on January 26, 2020 surrounded by family and close friends.
Reg was born December 1, 1945 in Sapulpa to Dale Green and Madge Green-Cornwell. In 1964, he graduated from Sapulpa High School and attended college on a football scholarship at Oklahoma Northern College, later transferring to Central State University in Edmond. In 1989, Reg began his career at Cortrol Process Systems, Inc. serving as its Director of Sales until retiring in 2017 after 28 years of service.
In 1964, Reg met the love of his life Carolyn Conley and they married in 1967. Reg and Carolyn recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. Reg was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa and active in helping with its outreach mission program Meals on Wheels.
Reg was also an active member in several local civic organizations and volunteered many hours of service to the Sapulpa Kiwanis Club, the Sapulpa Elks Lodge, the Sapulpa Historical Museum and the Creek County Election Board. In his spare time, Reg loved playing the game of golf, working in his yard, and watching his favorite baseball team the New York Yankees.
But it was Reg’s love for his hometown that is perhaps his best-known quality. His sincere concern for the people of Sapulpa caused Reg to accept an appointment to the Sapulpa city council in April 1996. After 15 years of such service, Reg was elected by his peers to serve as Mayor in July 2011, a position of trust he held continuously until his unexpected passing.
Reg will be remembered for his caring and compassionate heart and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn and son Ryan Green; his brother Gary and wife Peggy; Sister Sharon Deaver and husband Carl; Brother in Law Mike Conley and wife Jackie, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be Friday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
