Obituary

Lucy Sharp, 74, of Tulsa passed from this life on March 6, 2023 at her home.

Lucy was born on September 6, 1948 in Claremore to Roley and Bette Henshaw. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1966 and then attended Oklahoma State University.

Lucy met and married John Sharp. They had one daughter Krista. They moved around to different states while John served in the US Army and then was deployed to Vietnam. They later settled back into the Sand Springs and Sapulpa area where both of their families lived.

Lucy worked at the Sapulpa Tag Office where she began her lifelong friendship with her dear friend Joan. She then went to work at CITGO Petroleum in Tulsa as an executive secretary for over 20 years, made many lifelong friends while there, and eventually retired from there. One of the many perks she enjoyed while working for Citgo was going to the NASCAR races with her work friends and meeting the drivers. Lucy would later work a part-time job at Hasco Manufacturing in Sapulpa alongside, Roseann O’Brien, her best friend since 8th grade. She would later say, though, that her best job of all was being “Mimi” to her 3 granddaughters Macy, Reese and Riley. She spoiled them and was at every school event and dance recital.

Lucy enjoyed playing bunko monthly with friends and played bunko with the same group for over 40 years. She considered the lifelong friendships she gained from her working career and her bunko group of ladies as her greatest treasures.

Lucy was a long-time fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. She loved watching football and the softball girls. If you ever saw her, she was always wearing an OU sweatshirt or jacket unless she had to dress up for an occasion.

One of Lucy’s favorite activities to do besides being with her family and friends was going to the casino with her best friends Roseann and Kay. She also enjoyed going on the many vacations with her friends.

Lucy was a very caring person and was such a good friend to so many. She was so blessed to have many friendships over the years that she cherished. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Roley and Bette Henshaw, brother Larry Henshaw and brother Stephen Henshaw.

She is survived by her daughter Krista McCarthy of Tulsa, granddaughters Macy, Reese and Riley McCarthy of Tulsa, sister Sharlotte Riggle (Vernon) of Davis, OK; brother Tom Henshaw (Roberta) of Norman, OK; sister Bettye Paynter of Skiatook; many nieces and nephews, and a host of many other relatives.
