Obituary

 

Lota Compton, 95, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Lota was born on March 29, 1928 in Jenks, Oklahoma, to Morris and Violet Engel. She graduated from Jenks High School, Class of 1945. Lota worked for Carter Oil and then MAPCO, where she worked and retired in 1986, after 20 years. After retirement, Lota and Ralph enjoyed camping and fishing, as well as traveling the United States and Canada by motorhome.

Lota met and married Ralph Eaton on May 9, 1947, in Jenks, Oklahoma, where they resided until 1992. Lota and Ralph celebrated 47 years of marriage. Lota was a member and attended the First Baptist Church, Jenks, Oklahoma for 50 years. Lota and Ralph retired to South Texas in 1992 from Jenks.

Lota was lifelong, dedicated fan of the Jenks Trojans, and attended basketball games for many years with her sisters, and was recognized by Jenks High School with her very own reserved seat at the Frank Hearld Gymnasium in Jenks!

After being widowed in 1994, Lota married Bob Compton. Lota and Bob enjoyed their lives in Donna, Texas, until Bob’s death in 1999. Lota then moved back to Jenks, Oklahoma, to be near her sisters, Helen Duckert and Maryetta Bradley, as well as her children, Gary Eaton and his wife Mickie and Jumbo Eaton and his wife, Teri, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lota was pre-deceased by her parents, Morris and Violet Engel, husband, Ralph Eaton, and husband, Bob Compton.

Lota is survived by sons, Gary Eaton and his wife Mickie, of Tulsa, and Jumbo Eaton and his wife, Teri, of Claremore. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Aaron Eaton and his wife, Michelle, and Allison Jackson, and her husband, Jesse.

She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Duckert and Maryetta Bradley, of Jenks, and nephews, Bobby Duckert of Claremore and Vic Vreeland of Jenks.

Lota is also survived by nine (9) great-grandchildren, Trenton Eaton and his fiancé, Kloe Wofford; Tripp, Callaway and Scout Jackson; Noah, Ethan, Tyson Grimett and Faith Eaton. Lota also had one great-great granddaughter, Oaklynn Rae Eaton, as well as host of other relatives and friends.

Thank you to the staff at Ambassador Courtyard and Laura, Bob and the staff of Interim Healthcare and Hospice for their wonderful care of Lota.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, at 2:00 at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 South Main, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
