Obituary

Linda Jo Allen left this world suddenly on June 10, 2022. She was born Linda Jo Mills on February 6, 1945 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Boyd Gordon Mills and Alta Mae Mills (Simms). The second of five children, she grew up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with her parents and four siblings. She graduated Broken Arrow High School in 1963 and worked at Tulsa Public Schools for a time before transitioning into an administrative assistant position. Her first car was a Mustang, which became her favorite type of car from then on, later joining the Mustang Automobile Club. Linda met Larry Allen when mutual friends invited her to attend the stock car races with them. The two married January 26, 1973. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next year. The two welcomed, cared for, and loved many pets over their years together. Hobbies and crafts brought joy to Linda and filled her free time. She enjoyed beadwork and making jewelry as well as crocheting. Her family often received crotched gifts and handmade jewelry, carefully designed and made with love. When not crafting, Linda could often be found gardening. She filled her gardens with flowers and planted tomatoes every spring to ensure fresh, homegrown tomatoes for bacon and tomato sandwiches. Linda’s other favorite activities included attending the fair and sampling fair foods with her husband, scouring flea markets for delightful finds, and spending time with her family. Linda looked forward to holiday gatherings with her family and always brought favorite dishes to the celebrations. She especially loved Christmas, and every year she thoughtfully chose the perfect gifts for her nieces and nephews and gifted everyone with homemade Christmas candies. Linda is survived by her husband Larry, her sister Peggy Summers and her husband Howard, her sister Vickie Foster, and her brother Mike and his wife Sandy. She is also survived by six nephews, seven nieces, eleven grandnephews, and ten grandnieces. All of our lives are diminished by the loss. She will be sorely missed.
