Jim Maggard 61, of Tulsa, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2020 surrounded by family.
Jimmy “Jim” Darrell Maggard was born July 9th 1959 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Darrell & Carol Maggard. He graduated from Webster High School in 1977. He went on to retire from Fisher Products after 24 years.
During his senior year Jim pursued everyman’s dream, the older woman, and landed Janice Barnett. Jim eventually won her over and on June 9, 1979 they were married. During his life Jim would try to convince everyone that he was “the best thing that ever happen to her.” The couple went on to have 2 sons James Blake, born November 14, 1982 and Jeffery Ryan, born February 23, 1987. Jim spent his time and money coaching his son’s football and baseball teams. He was the type of sports Dad that ran out for a pair of blue baseball socks and returned with a full set of new catchers gear….but forgot the socks.
Jim was blessed with many grandchildren. They were his greatest joy in life. When it came to the grandchildren “no” wasn’t an option. From tea parties to toe painting Jim did it all. Summers were spent in the pool with Pudge (his 3 nut mut) on a floatie and his grandkids showing him all their “tricks” jumping in the pool.
When Jim wasn’t at home (shirtless) watching Gunsmoke or OU Football, he was traveling the state of Oklahoma watching his grandkids play ball. From baseball, softball, soccer, football, wrestling, basketball and even dance, Jim was at it all. Whatever activity he was attending he was sealing his spot as their biggest fan.
Jim is survived by his wife Janice and sons Blake and Jeff, parents Darrell and Carol Maggard, siblings Laura Bost, Sherry McFarland and Steve Maggard, grandchildren Payton, Mason, Daxton, Haley, Brooklynn, Coltn, Gage, and Emerie.
