Obituary

Glenn Carl Hobbs, Jr. 82, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed from this life suddenly on Friday, February 24, 2023 at his home just outside Sapulpa. Carl was born September 29, 1940 in Muskogee, OK to Glenn Carl Hobbs, Sr. and Elza Louise (Barnes) Hobbs. Carl married the love of his life Patricia (Pat) Ann Repsher on March 18, 1961. They were blessed with 49 years and 10 months of marriage. Carl is survived by their 4 children and spouses: Charles Hobbs (Stephanie), Mike Hobbs (Kim), Carla Cale (Randy), and Darla Beverlin (Warren) all of Sapulpa. He was Papa to 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who were the light of his life. Leslie Burton (Bo), Lindsey King (Matthew), & Joshua Hobbs of Sapulpa; Rebecca Hobbs (DJ Jones) of Sapulpa, Jessica Hobbs (Josiah LaSarge) of Okmulgee, & Charles Joaquin (CJ) Glenn Hobbs, Jacob Cale, and Rachel Beverlin of Sapulpa. Great grandchildren are Josie, Beckham and Paris Burton, Ryott King, Weston Glenn Jones, Amirya and Tobias LaSarge. Also surviving is his nephew Ronald Waine Kress (Sheila), his great nephews Michael, Haydn, Kaleb and Kamden of Frisco, TX. and his aunt and uncle Aldena (Barnes) Powell and Dr. Jerrel B. Powell of Florida as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to list. Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife Pat, in 2011, as well as his parents, sister Viola Irene (Hobbs) Kress, brother-in-law Ronald Dale Kress and infant brother Charley William Hobbs. Carl attended high school in Morris, OK. He served in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma followed by the United States Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1966. After working briefly for Coca Cola and Commander Finishing Company in Sand Springs he went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. retiring after 30 years of service. Carl and Pat and their children operated Hobbs Amusements for many years. Throughout the time they owned the carnival many extended family members and close friends assisted as well. Dad loved and was very proud of his children but being Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren was the best. In his eyes they could do no wrong and always brought a smile whenever they blessed him with a visit or when he was able to attend their special events. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play baseball, softball, and basketball when he was able. Carl attended Beams of Light Church until his health made it too difficult. Carl was blessed with three “Angels on Earth” and the care of New Century Hospice who, through their loving care, enabled him to continue to live at home and be active in his children and grandchildrens lives. His family will forever be indebted to Jessica Cutler, Brandi Luster and LaDonna Partridge for loving and caring for our Dad / Papa until the very end. They are members of the Hobbs family in our hearts. Pallbearers will be Lonnie DeLaney, Tony Crabtree, Lloyd Carroll, Jimmie Carroll, Ritch Gunter, and 3 of Papa’s Grandsons: Charles Joaquin (CJ) Glenn Hobbs, Joshua Hobbs, and Jacob Cale. Honorary Pallbearers will be Papa’s 5 granddaughters, who will make sure the boys do a good job, as well as his 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Smith’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm also at Smith's Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
