Ervin Douglas Taber, 77, of Sapulpa, OK, passed from this life Thursday, January 5, 2023. Douglas was born on May 4th, 1945 in Sapulpa to Ervin Edward and Owna Mae Taber.
Much of his life was working in the Auto Service Industry, including truck stops and his last position with Faughn Oil Company in Campbell, Missouri where he lived for 25 years prior to returning to his hometown of Sapulpa and residing with his niece Retha Owens until his death.
Douglas's two passions were football and auctions. He was an avid OU fan BUT he would root for the OSU Cowboys if there was nothing else on TV and they were not playing OU. Douglas loved making bets on his favorite games, mainly consisting of a candy bar! He also loved to go to the auctions looking for those great finds and would travel to surrounding areas enjoying the camaraderie and making friends as much as getting that find.
Everyone who knew Douglas has probably been victim to his pranks, jokes and antics. He even requested to be buried next to his very dear brother in law, Burch, so that he could reach over and "goose" him anytime he wanted!
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Owna Mae Taber and his siblings, Donald Taber, Marcella Hitt, Pauline Gray, Lola King, Carol Callahan, Darlene Lambert and Julia Simpson.
He is survived by his son, Steve Cox (Michelle), Doug Lindsey (Elizabeth), 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters. He is also survived by his special cousin Bobby Taber (Denise) to whom he was very close; his brother in laws Burch Lambert and Doug Simpson Sr. and a host of nieces and nephews. Douglas was very loved and will be greatly missed.
