Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Simmers (Newrider) 68, of Sapulpa, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by family. Liz was born December 31, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas to Lucille and David Newrider. 

Funeral services will be Friday, February 5, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home , Sapulpa, Oklahoma with Chaplain Roger Sheppard officiating. 

Liz graduated from Tulsa McClain High School and went on to attend Haskell Indian Nations University. She was employed by Riverspirit Casino for over 15 years, where she met many amazing friends and co-workers. 

She was a proud Native American woman who had a great love for her family, supporting them at their many school and sporting events. She also loved to spend time at the casino and watching movies. Liz had a big smile, and an excellent sense of humor that she was not afraid to share, along with an unforgettable laugh.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy and her husband Randy Gibson of Sapulpa; and her son, David Thompson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Lance Saldivor, Tyler Gibson, Kyrah Roberts, Feather Roberts, Deziree Roberts, Elijah Factor, and Ian Gibson; great grandchildren Payson Wickliffe, Landon Ashley, Rylee Dick, and Nakota Saldivor; sisters, Billie Jo Pidgeon, Riane Brown, Sherri Summers, and Tina Newrider; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and David Newrider; 

Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Gutierrez, Bay Prado, Michael Banks, and Chris Leaf.

Please join the family for a meal after the service at Southern Hills Missionary Baptist Church, 2501 S. Hickory, Sapulpa, OK.
