Doris Irlene Griffin was born April 17, 1938 in Hammond , OK to Ira James Fish & Jewell Mae (Jenkins) Fish.
She passed from this life on April 21, 2023, after having attained the age of 85 years and 4 days.
Her family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico when she was very young and she attended church & school there, where she met the love of her life, Dickie Wayne Kendrick. They were married September 16, 1954, at the ages of 16 & 17. To this union were born 4 daughters. After 18 years of marriage, Dickie was killed in a tragic airplane accident in October 1972, leaving Irlene with 4 young daughters to raise. She tried to keep their lives “as normal as possible”, so she continued attending church & various camp meetings in several states.
In October of 1976 Irlene moved her little family to Muldrow, OK. after a couple of years, she moved to Sand Springs, OK where she attended Bethany Holiness Church. After a short time, she became the Bethany Christian School Supervisor. She loved that position and loved the students she worked with. She has been a member of Bethany for 45 years.
In December 1985, Irlene married Mark Griffin of Sapulpa, OK. After 25 years of marriage, He preceded her in death in May, 2011.
She leaves to mourn her passing, 4 daughters & Son-in-laws:
Sheryl Diane & Kenneth Baker of Sapulpa, Gayla Waylene & Terry Guthrie of Sallisaw, OK, Vickie Elaine & Onis Parks of Chelsea, OK, Cynthia Janan & Hugh Henegar of Sapulpa. 11 grandchildren: Michelle Herndon, Derek Baker, Devin Guthrie, Melissa Perry, Darin Guthrie, Brianna Garrison, Kendra Muzzy, Darrell Henegar, Dathan Guthrie, Jill Johnson, & Kendrick Henegar, 30 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends with many wonderful memories.
