Obituary

Donald Allen Martin of Glenpool, Oklahoma died December 23, 2020 at 7:41 pm.  He was born December 12, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to John Clarence and Leah Mae Martin.

He attended school in Oklahoma, moving before his senior year to Bethany, Oklahoma where he graduated from Bethany High School in 1949.  There he met and dated Betty Lou Wretling.  They were married on June 27, 1950.  To this union were born 2 sons; Steven Allen Martin and Philip John Martin.  They lived in Bethany while Don attended Southern Nazarene University (then Bethany Nazarene College.)  He graduated in 1957 with a BA degree in Religion.  He later attended Perkins Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas and St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene since 1959.  He served Churches of the Nazarene in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Florida for 27 years and 16 ½ years in the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He retired from the pastoral ministry after serving a total of nearly 44 years.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Betty.  They were marred 64 years.  He is also preceded by a brother, Paul Martin and a sister, Dr. Carolann Martin.

He is survived by two sons – Stephen and wife Cathey Martin of Gordonville, Texas, Philip and wife Debbie Martin of Kiefer, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren – William, Timothy, Stephanie, Johnathan, Jarod, Joy and Shyanne; great grand children, nieces and nephews, and many friends who loved him dearly.

Graveside service will be held on December 30, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Bethany Cemetery in Bethany, Oklahoma under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
