Donald B. Kramer passed away in his home on November 16, 2020.
He is survived by his wife Martha, a sister Betti Kramer, three children, Beth Bowles (Paul), Jeff Kramer (Anna), and Keith Kramer (Melissa), six Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.
Don was born Donald Alden Horn on October 5, 1934 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Lesley Alden and Minnie Mae Horn. The Great Depression affected his life, as well as many others. He was adopted at the age of 10 by Tosca and Adolph Kramer in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His adoptive name became Donald Berger Kramer.
Don was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School and received his B.M.E. from the University of Tulsa. He was first and foremost a French Horn player, loved playing the instrument and loved performing in various groups.
He was a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra French Horn Section from 1956 to 1975 and was Principal French Horn from 1965 to 1975. From 1976 to 1979, Don was Manager of the Peoria, Illinois Orchestra. Don was also a member of the Tulsa Community Band for over 25 years and enjoyed his time playing with community musicians, all donating their time and talents to perform for various nursing homes, veteran groups and the general public. That is what he enjoyed, giving to the community.
When Don returned to Tulsa from Peoria, Illinois, he joined the U.S.P.S. as a letter carrier, retiring in 1999.
In 1999, he married Martha Snider and was happily married for 21 years.
Don’s loving and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
