Obituary

Dariel Marion Childress, 80, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, went to his eternal reward, May 4, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Dariel was born on February 24h 1942 in Sapulpa to William and Helen Anderson. He was the oldest of 12 children with an age gap of twenty-seven years from him to his baby sister, Lisa. He grew up in Sapulpa where he met and married, Carolyn Childress, the love of his life on April 5th, 1962. Together they had three children, a talkative brunette, a fiery little redhead, and a rambunctious boy. He was a hard worker that always did his best to provide for his family as an electrician and machine mechanic.

He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and was uniquely nicknamed “Chili “by his fellow soldiers and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1989. He and Carolyn moved to Tennessee and lived there for seventeen wonderful years before relocating back to be closer to family in their latter years.

In his spare time, he loved to fish (hit them with tree limbs), watch his westerns, especially John Wayne and get tickled watching the outdoor critters play around in the yard. He thoroughly enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, dominos, and whooping everyone at a game of Wahoo. He also had a love for Oreos and milk, Ice Age movies, and fried catfish!

They were faithful members of The Church of God and were very active for many years. He was a humble and quiet man known for his big hugs and loud patterned Hawaiian shirts. Though he may not have realized, he was a spiritual leader to his siblings, children, and grandchildren. He wanted nothing more than to see all his family saved and working for the Lord as they had been brought up. It was always beautiful to see his heart overflow with joy watching them be blessed by the Lord during church services.

Near the end of his life, he verbalized how much he longed to see his beautiful wife, parents, sisters, and the twin siblings he never met in Heaven. Most of all he wanted to see his Lord and Savior, Jesus face to face.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn. Father, William Anderson, Mother Helen Anderson and his siblings Debbie, Patricia, and Wilma.

He was survived by his children, Christina Neeley and husband Christopher of Broken Arrow, Rebecca Dowler and husband Marty of Bixby; Son Dewayne Childress of Tennessee; Seven grandchildren; Brandie Back, Dedra Harper and her Husband Ben Harper, Morgan, Makala and CJ Neeley, Brandon and Cody Childress; One great grandchild Payton Harper; Ten siblings, Jimmy Anderson, Diana Luster, Pam Luster, Donna Richardson, Carol Anderson, Bill Anderson and Lisa Stockton. As well as Maudie Kelly, Pat Simmons and Charles Harwood.
