Alvy Jesse Speers Jr. started his walk with Jesus on September 7th, 2022, at 79 years old.
Alvy was born in Pratt, Kansas on April 22nd, 1943. He was raised in the Yale, Oklahoma area and joined the army before graduation.
Alvy enlisted in the United States Army December 31st, 1960. During his service he was a Sharpshooter, was with the 6th Howitzer Battalion 80th Artillery, and obtained a rank of Sergeant E-5. Upon finishing his education in the service, Alvy received his high school diploma from Yale High School on May 22nd, 1964, something he was very proud of! He received a Good Conduct Medal and received an Honorable Discharge December 30th, 1966.
Alvy married Anna M. Lewis June 22nd of 1963, while in the service and they had two wonderful children, Glen & Kaye. Sadly, they lost Anna April 8th, 1971.
On October 23rd, 1971, he married Jean Chambers, and they had a daughter, Carolyn. In 2021 Alvy and Jean celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary; He was SO very proud and would tell everyone he was introduced to.
Alvy was a man of many talents. He worked hard as a diesel mechanic at Roadway Express, White Trucking, Sun Oil Refinery, Keystone Equipment, & Oklahoma Natural Gas. Leaving ONG to be self employed as a diesel mechanic until his retirement. While working he also raised beef cattle and a thriving vegetable garden. His garden would produce so well that it allowed for family, friends and some to sell.
He always loved the great outdoors and hunting was his passion. He hunted every turkey and deer season until his eyesight failed. He loved being in the woods with family and treasured those moments.
Left to cherish his memory are wife-Jean Speers, five siblings-Ruby Carter, Richard Speers, Jeannie Thomas, Steve Speers, Susan Baker, and his Son-Glen Speers and wife Cheryl, daughter-Kaye Wilkinson and husband Spencer, daughter-Carolyn Hernandez and husband Samuel. As well as 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
Alvy was preceded in death by Mother-Sarah Bell Christenson Speers, Father-Alvy Jesse Speers Sr., and brother-Lawrence Speers.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 12 from 4-7 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 1208 S Main, Sapulpa, OK
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 10 AM at Oakwood Cemetery, 1915 McNabb Drive, in Mounds, OK
