Wanda Fay Nelson, of Mounds, Oklahoma, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, October 3, 2011, at the age of 68. She was born on June 17, 1943 in Dell, Arkansas to Marjorie and Farrell Reed. Wanda married Tallis Nelson, Jr., the love of her life, at the age of sixteen, on November 7, 1959, in Burley, Idaho. They left Idaho shortly after they were married to begin their new lives together in Oklahoma. They were married for nearly 50 years and were blessed with 5 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Tallis Nelson, Jr., her parents, Marjorie and Farrell Reed, and her sister, Shirley Reed. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Raby of Mounds, Oklahoma, and Karen McDonald of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three sons, Russell Nelson and wife Delisa of Fostoria, Ohio, Joseph Nelson and wife Tina of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Jeffrey Nelson and wife Chana of Mounds, Oklahoma. Sisters Sue Marshall of Vancouver, Washington, Virginia Boen of Gervais, Oregon, and Hazel Netzel and husband Ken of Vancouver, Washington. She will also be missed by her 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many friends and family members. She enjoyed going to church, listening to the Gaither Vocal band, vacationing with her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. Watching “The Little House On The Prairie”, “The Waltons”, and Lifetime Movie Network were some of her favorite past times. Our mother was one of a kind! She was an AWESOME wife, mother, grandma, and friend. During the last six months she kept a journal. Every page she thanked God for her many blessings. It is filled with loving thoughts about her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, and friends. Even though her last days brought struggles, her words proved her incredible faith in God. A family and friends’ viewing will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6pm-8pm at Smith’s Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 2pm at Beggs First Assembly of God in Beggs, Oklahoma. The family has entrusted the care of the services to the directors of Smith’s Funeral Home, Pastor Don Keizor, and Pastor Robert Yandell.
